New Mexico State Vs. Ohio Final Score: Bobcats Pummel Aggies, 51-24

The New Mexico St. Aggies (1-1) failed to upset the Ohio Bobcats (2-0) on Saturday night, losing in a thrashing, 51-24. The Ohio Bobcats remain as one of the best contenders to bust the BCS this season, though it is still too early to make any definitive statements about which teams at potential BCS-busters.

Ohio's offense was powered by running back Beau Blankenship and his 174 rushing yards. He also found the end zone for two rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Tyler Tettleton completed 15 of 23 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Donte Foster and Landon Smith caught the touchdown passes. The former led the team with five receptions for 57 yards.

The Aggies trailed just 21-17 early in the third quarter before Ohio went on a tear and scored 24 straight points.

New Mexico State quarterback Andrew Manley struggled, completing just 12-of-24 passes for 132 yards. He had on touchdown and one interception. Austin Franklin caught five balls for 72 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown reception. Akeelie Mustafa returned a kick for a 91-yard touchdown and totaled 180 yards on six kick returns. Tiger Powell rushed for the other touchdown and Tyler Stampler added three points on a 38-yard field goal.

New Mexico State goes on the road to face the UTEP Miners next Saturday. Ohio travels to face the Marshall Thundering Herd.
