The BYU Cougars improved to 2-0 on Saturday following a 45-13 victory over the FCS Weber State Wildcats at LaVell Edward Stadium. After a mostly quiet quarter, BYU's offense picked up and never looked back.

Up 21-0 at halftime, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall sat starting quarterback Riley Nelson for the second half. Nelson finished the game 18-of-29 for 244 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He connected with Cody Hoffman (7 receptions, 115 receiving yards) for a 37-yard touchdown pass with 3:09 left in the first quarter.

Freshman quarterback Taysom Hill ran 2 yards for the second touchdown of the first half while running back Michael Alisa ran for an 8-yard touchdown with 4:15 left in the half.

James Lark took over for Nelson in the second half and threw and ran for touchdown while completing seven of 10 passes. Hill added a second rushing touchdown with 3:34 left in the game. Overall, BYU outgained Weber State, 532 total yards to 254.

Weber State scored on rushing touchdowns by Josh Booker and Kris Parham.

BYU visits the Utah Utes (1-1) next Saturday.
