The Wyoming Cowboys will contend with some MACtion on Saturday when the Toledo Rockets visit Laramie.
The Wyoming Cowboys (0-1) play their home opener at War Memorial Stadium by hosting the Toledo Rockets (0-1) and the hot MACtion they bring with them. Wyoming is looking to pick things up after losing to the Texas Longhorns, 37-17, last weekend.
Wyoming was able to hold a 9-7 lead over Texas into the middle of the second quarter, but then sophomore quarterback Brett Smith threw back-to-back interceptions, both of which wound up resulting in Longhorns touchdowns on the ensuing drives. Smith threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns, as well, but those interceptions were killers for his team. Robert Herron caught five passes for 173 yards.
The Rockets opened the season with an overtime loss to the Arizona Wildcats, 24-17. Arizona quarterback shredded the Toledo secondary for 387 yards and two touchdowns while Ka'Deem Carey's 147 rushing yards led the team's 237-yard effort on the ground. Toledo's quarterbacks, Terrance Owens and Austin Dantin, combined to throw 21 completions in 47 attempts for 197 yards and one touchdown.
