Colorado desperately needed a win on Sunday but only managed a 1-1 tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
As the 2012 MLS season comes to a close the Colorado Rapids are running out of chances to make a run for the playoffs. Sunday they had a chance to gain valuable points when they host the Los Angeles Galaxy. Colorado could only manage a 1-1 draw, however, and that likely means there will be no playoff appearance this year.
Marcelo Sarvas got Los Angeles on the board in the 10th minute to dig an early hole for Colorado. Jaime Castrillón would answer six minutes later to get Colorado right back in the game, but neither team could crack the scoring column in the remaining time.
Each team managed 14 shots, but Colorado only had three on goal compared to five for Los Angeles. Matt Pickens managed four saves for Colorado in net as they did salvage a point. With three games left, however, Colorado sits nine points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
