The Montana Grizzlies (2-2) lost their homecoming game on Saturday when the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (3-1) pulled off a 41-31 road victory. Running back Zach Bauman rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns for the Lumberjacks.
Bauman scored the first touchdown of the game on a 75-yard touchdown run just 11 seconds into the game. Montana scored the next 24 points over the first and second quarters and went into halftime with a 24-14 lead.
Once in the second half, Northern Arizona dominated the game. Quarterback Cary Grossart threw a touchdown pass and two field goals by Andy Wilder put the team in a 27-24 lead. Bauman ran for his two other touchdowns in the fourth quarter while Montana couldn't get on the board again until 1:58 remained in the game, scoring on a 45-yard touchdown pass (Shay Smithwick-Hann to Ellis Henderson).
Montana quarterback Trent McKinney threw for 199 yards and was intercepted three times. Running back Dan Moore finished the game with 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
