Stay connected for news and updates

The Northern Colorado Bears lost to the Sacramento State Hornets on Saturday, 28-17. This is the Hornets' second victory this year over a team from Colorado, defeating the Colorado Buffaloes the previous weekend, 30-28.

Northern Colorado quarterback Seth Lobato completed 30 of 54 passes for 327 yards, but he also threw three interceptions. The Bears scored on a 75-yard punt return by Dominic Gunn in the second quarter and on a Tromaine Davis 1-yard run with 8:11 left in the game.

Garrett Safron, Sacramento State's quarterback, had better success, as he threw two touchdown passes (though he completed just 16 of 3o passes). Running back Ezekiel Graham pounded out 98 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.

This game did not count as a Big Sky Conference game. Though Sacramento State joined the conference this summer, 13 teams in the Big Sky allows for such instances to happen.

The Bears (1-2) stays on the road and travels to Bozeman to face the Montana St. Bobcats next Saturday.
