The Wyoming Cowboys could be in line for their first win of the season on Saturday. They host the FCS Cal Poly Mustangs.
The Wyoming Cowboys (0-2) host the FCS Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in search of the team's first victory this season. After dropping the road opener to the Texas Longhorns, 37-17, the Cowboys returned home and dropped that game to the Toledo Rockets, 34-31.
Wyoming lost starting quarterback Brett Smith during last week's game and he is not expected to play on Saturday. Junior Colby Kirkegaard or freshman Jason Thompson could start in place of Smith.
Cal Poly had last week off but did beat San Diego two weeks ago, 41-14, to enter this game at 1-0. If we've learned anything early on this college football season, it's that FCS teams can reckon with FBS ones. Just look at Colorado and Colorado State losing to Sacramento State and North Dakota State.
Game time/date: 4 p.m. MT, Saturday, Sept. 15
Location: War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, Wyo.
Radio: Cowboy Sports Network (regional)
