The Wyoming Cowboys will need a second half comeback if they wish to upend the Texas Longhorns on the road. At halftime, the Cowboys are down, 24-9, to the Longhorns. The Cowboys had led 9-7 midway through the second quarter before the Longhorns scored 17 unanswered points.
Wyoming took an early 3-0 lead on Stuart Williams' 33-yard field goal, but Texas' Joe Bergeron punched the ball into the end zone on a 1-yard run several minutes later. However, Wyoming quarterback Brett Smith and wide receiver Robert Herron connected for an 82-yard touchdown reception. Williams, however, missed the point after attempt and left the lead at 9-7.
David Ash (13-of-17, 105 yards) opened up the scoring in the second quarter on a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Shipley midway through the frame. D.J. Monroe added a 7-yard touchdown run a few minutes later and Nick Jordan put a 31-yard field goal attempt through the uprights with three seconds left in the quarter.
Smith, one of the top quarterbacks in the Mountain West, is 8-of-12 passing for 166 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Herron has three receptions for 143 yards.
