Can the Wyoming Cowboys upset the Texas Longhorns on Saturday?

The Wyoming Cowboys haven't had much success against the Texas Longhorns, losing all four contests they have played. The Cowboys lost both ends of the home-and-home series they played with Texas in 2009 and 2010 and will now look to their first victory against the Longhorns on Saturday.

Wyoming went 8-5 last season, but the season ended with a loss to Temple in the New Mexico Bowl, 37-15. That was a marked turnaround from the 3-9 season the team experienced in 2010. Much of that success can be attributed to quarterback Brett Smith. As a true freshman, Smith completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,622 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing 11 interceptions. He rushed for 710 yards and 10 touchdowns. Can Smith lead Wyoming to an upset on Saturday?

Texas, meanwhile, sports one of the best defenses in the nation, but questions about the offense are ubiquitous. David Ash defeated Case McCoy for the starting quarterback slot, but the 15th-ranked team this season struggled with the two of those quarterbacks splitting time in 2011. Ash completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,079 yards while throwing four touchdowns and eight interceptions.

This game will be available on the Longhorn Network, which spread its coverage area by reaching a deal with AT&T U Verse on Friday (first reported by SB Nation).

Game time/date: 6 p.m. MT, Saturday, Sept. 1

Location: Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin, Texas

TV Schedule: Longhorn Network

Odds: Texas favored, -28 points (opening); -31.5 (current)
