Former Colorado State golfer Martin Laird built upon a solid first round by shooting a 4-under second round on Friday, and sits just outside the top ten on the leaderboard and four shots behind current leader Nick Watney, who is 8-under for the tournament and 2-under on the day through eight holes.
Laird had an up-and-down first round with four bogeys and five birdies but was much more steady on Friday with just one bogey and four birdies — including three on the front nine. Laird made his birdies on two par-3s and two par-5s, bogeying the par-5 7th hole.
Padraig Harrington, who leads the field after an 7-under first round, stumbled out of the gates on Friday with five bogeys in his first eight holes, finishing 5-over on the front nine. Harrington plummeted on the leaderboard, and currently sits in a tie for 32nd after nine holes.
Tiger Woods is even on the day through six holes and sits five shots back at 2-under.
