Michael Schoolcraft, a Denver, Colo. native and junior at the University of Oklahoma, has advanced onto the match-play round of the U.S. Amateur Championship, which is being held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
The stroke-play qualifying rounds of the men's U.S. Amateur Championship concluded Tuesday, and Michael Schoolcraft, a Denver, Colo. native, has advanced onto the match play rounds after carding a two-round score of 142 (1-over par) to finish in 39th place. Schoolcraft, a soon-to-be junior at the University of Oklahoma, is playing at his home course of Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
"For the stroke play portion, I played conservative and managed my game well and hit it in spots where I could score the best," Schoolcraft said. "The thing I did poorly was simply hitting the ball. I was really struggling hitting the ball tee to green well, so I had to change my game plan a little bit off the tees."
Moving on, Schoolcraft will face Zack Munroe of the University of North Carolina on Wednesday. The pair will tee off at 10:40 a.m. MDT.
