Rockies Vs. Giants Final Score: Colorado Shuts Out San Francisco, 3-0

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies accomplished no small feat on Friday night by shutting out the San Francisco Giants, 3-0, at AT&T Park. Three Rockies pitchers, led by Tyler Chatwood, twirled a three-hitter in one of the most impressive pitching performance by the team this season.

Chatwood (2-2, 5.06 ERA) reached 71 pitches after five innings, but he allowed just three singles and walked two. He also struck out two. Adam Ottavino did get into some trouble in the seventh inning when he issued back-to-back walks, but a strikeout and a fly out ended that San Francisco threat. Matt Belisle followed with a clean eighth inning and gave way to Rafael Betancourt, who picked up his 20th save of the season.

Dexter Fowler and Tyler Colvin hit RBI singles in the third and fourth innings, respectively. Chris Nelson cushioned the lead just a bit more with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Tim Lincecum (6-12, 5.35 ERA) gave up all three runs in seven innings of work.

The Rockies (41-69, 20-32 away) continue this series on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. MT with Drew Pomeranz facing Matt Cain.
