Not so fast on the Idaho Vandals joining the Big Sky Conference ... at least as a football member. Earlier reports had Big Sky commissioner Doug Fullerton mentioning that the conference and Idaho are in discussions, but it turns out that they are just over admission for non-football sports, according to Rob Spear, Idaho's athletic director:

Despite reports at this point in time the only conversations with the Big Sky have centered around a home for our non football sports

So, basically, Idaho still wants to play at the FBS level as an independent or hope some conference actually wants to take them in at this point.

Of course, Spear qualifies his remarks with "at this point in time." Certainly football membership could be in the discussion down the road -- if it comes to that.
