Phillies Vs. Rockies: Colorado Out To Continue Strong 2nd Half Start

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies kicked off the second half of the season with a solid 6-2 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies, receiving a strong pitching performance from rookie Christian Friedrich and a great major league debut by Josh Rutledge at the plate (2-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 SB).

Rutledge will likely get another start when the Rockies take on Vance Worley (4-5, 3.54 ERA) on Saturday evening. Worley pitched against the Rockies when the team was in Philadelphia in June, picking up the loss in a 4-1 decision. But he allowed just two runs in seven innings. In his last start before the All-Star Break, Worley allowed three runs in six innings while walking four and striking out five.

The Rockies continue with Jeremy Guthrie (3-8, 6.05 ERA) back in the rotation. In his two starts back there, Guthrie has allowed just two runs in six innings each time. Will he be able to lower his ERA to below 6.00 after this outing?

Game time/date: 6:10 p.m. MT, Saturday, July 14, 2012

Location: Coors Field, Denver, CO
