Pierre Rolland captured victory on Stage 11 in the 2012 Tour de France on Thursday. From Albertville to La Toussuire - Les Sybelles, Rolland was on the top of his game and won his second career Tour stage. He did fall off his bike while making a turn on a descent, but he was able to recover from that misstep and wound up winning by 55 seconds ahead of Thibaut Pinot and Christopher Froome, both stage winners already this year.
Rolland was sixth and second, respectively, on the first two categorized climbs of the day, but he took first place on the final two, the last one being the summit finish at La Toussuire.
Bradley Wiggins maintains the yellow jersey after coming in sixth place. At 48:43:53, Wiggins holds a +2:05 lead over Froome. Cadel Evans lost precious time on this stage and has a +3:19 gap to overcome. Tejay Van Garderen moved into seventh place but is nearly seven minutes off the pace.
