South Carolina Gamecocks starting pitcher Michael Roth went out a winner at home in Columbia, S.C. He pitched the Gamecocks to a shutout over the Oklahoma Sooners, 5-0, on Saturday night. South Carolina is now on a 20-game postseason winning streak.
Roth allowed just six hits in 7.2 innings and was close to completing eight full innings, but a single with two outs in the inning had Ray Turner pull him from the game. Tyler Webb pitched a clean 1.1 innings to finish the game.
South Carolina scored three runs in the third inning on a L.B. Dantzler double, a wild pitch and a Chase Vergason sacrifice fly. The other runs came in the seventh on singles by Joey Pankake and Christian Walker.
Game 2 of this series takes place on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. MT and will be viewable on ESPNU.
