Allison Schmitt finished in third while Natalie Coughlin finished in sixth, placing her on the Olympic team.

Roughly 20 minutes before the 100 meter freestyle, Franklin captured the best time in the 200 meter backstroke semifinals by posting a 2:07.91. She beat Elizabeth Beisel, who was in the same heat, by 0.50 seconds. Elizabeth Pelton captured third place while Bonnie Brandon, a Cherry Creek High School graduate, came in fourth.

Franklin is already going to the Olympics for the 100 meter backstroke and the 200 meter freestyle. On Sunday, she has the finals for the 200 meter backstroke and the preliminaries for the 50 meter freestyle.
