Kent State got out to a 5-1 lead on the Florida Gators on Monday afternoon, held on for dear life, and eventually won 5-4. The Gators have been eliminated from the 2012 College World Series.
Florida rallied for a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to pull within 5-4, and it looked as though they would at the very least tie the game during the top of the ninth inning. The Gators' first two hitters of the ninth both walked on four consecutive pitches, and as the Flashes fell behind the third batter, it seemed they might help Florida right back into the ball game. Florida decided to bunt anyway, and the sacrifice successfully advanced the runners to second and third. But then Kent State got a strikeout for the second out and a fly ball to right field to end the game.
