Fort Collins native and current Gonzaga Bulldogs left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales made his 2012 Cape Cod debut on the mound during Friday's Falmouth Commodores game against the Harwich Mariners. Gonzales, remember, is a two-way player and had three strikeouts during his first game of the season on Thursday.
Gonzales' start on the mound went much better than his time in the batter's box. He allowed one run on four hits in five innings and struck out five. In the fifth inning, Sam Dove led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a flyout to right field. Jared King hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Dove and put that one run on the board.
Falmouth, however, had its bats going for a 4-2 victory on Friday night. Well, at least in the third inning. A couple of singles, a couple of doubles helped score three runs in the third inning. Gonzales was not a batter in the lineup for this game.
