The 2012 U.S. Open will most certainly be a challenging course right up until the final stroke of the tournament takes place on Sunday. While a large portion of the golfers still needs to complete the majority of its Round 1, there are only five golfers under par for the day. Michael Thompson leads at 3-under after making four birdies on the yet-to-be-completed back nine.
Tiger Woods isn't far behind at 2-under with back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth holes (he started on Tee No. 9). His groupmates, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are at 6-over and 7-over, respectively.
Parker, Co., resident Shane Bertsch is also at 7-over. Fourteen-year-old amateur Andy Zhang is at 8-over while Steve Marino is currently last at 13-over.
