Serena Williams, ranked the No. 5 seed entering the 2012 French Open, has been eliminated in the first round by little-known No. 115 seed, Virginie Razzano:
After leading by a set and 5-1 in the 2nd set breaker, No. 5 seed Serena loses in 3 to Virginia Razzano at the #FrenchOpen

Despite having having and impressive 500+ wins and only 100+ losses in her professional career, Williams could not overcome an energetic Razzano, who managed to pluck victory in three sets.
According to Christopher Clarey of the New York Times, not only was the loss from Williams surprising, the win for Razzano was redeeming:
This is not all about Serena, however. Razzano, who lost her fiance before last year's #FrenchOpen, is playing with tremendous pluck #RG12
