The two top women's teams in the country, at least by ranking, won't play each other in this year's championship game. That match up will take place on Sunday night in the quarterfinals, when the top ranked Baylor Bears take on the Stanford Cardinal in the game's marquee match up.
The night's other match up between the Connecticut Huskies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish may have the name recognition, but it's this one that features the star power. Brittany Griner is not only the consensus top women's player in the nation, but she's also the biggest star that the sport has produced in years. It's unlikely that she'll steamroll the Cardinal, though, as Stanford boasts maybe the country's second best player in forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike. Ogwumike averaged 22.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, which matches up favorably with Griner's line of 23.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Griner, though, does of course lead the NCAA in blocks with just over five a game.
Game time/date: Sunday, April 1, 6:30 p.m. MT
Location: Pepsi Center, Denver, Colo.
