The Montana Grizzlies football team has reportedly lost head coach Robin Pflugrad, who has been fired along with athletic director Jim O'Day.
University of Montana president Royce Engstrom has fired Grizzlies football coach Robin Pflugrad and athletic director Jim O'Day on Thursday. Colter Nuanez of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle tweeted this:
Just got word out f Missoula that UM pres Engstrom just fired fb coach Pflugrad, AD Jim O'Day. Still tryin to confirm
— Colter Nuanez (@Bobcat_Beat) March 29, 2012
Other outlets reported this as well around the same time. The Missoulian reports that the university will release a statement on Pflugrad and O'Day at 12:00 p.m. MT. There are no indications yet as to why both Pflugrad and O'Day have reportedly been fired. This statement will hopefully shed some light on that -- if their dismissal is in fact coming.
Pflugrad has had a couple of stints with the Montana Grizzlies during his coaching career, joining the team for a second time in 2009 as wide receivers coach. He was promoted just a year later when Bobby Hauck left for UNLV. He led the Grizzlies to a semifinals matchup in the 2011 NCAA FCS Tournament, losing to the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
