Avalanche Vs. Oilers Score Update: Landeskog Gives Avs Two Goal Lead

The Colorado Avalanche took a healthy two goal lead over the Edmonton Oilers into the second intermission on Friday night thanks to goals from center Mark Oliver and winger Gabriel Landeskog. For Oliver, it was his first goal of the season, while Landeskog netted his 14th on the year.

Oliver's goal put the Avs up 2-0 with almost four minutes gone in the second period, and it came on assists from Ryan O'Reilly as well as Landeskog. Less than six minutes later, Landeskog would tally another point when he lit the lamp on a goal assisted by O'Reilly (his third of the game) and Paul Stastny. The three goal lead would hold for just over five minutes before Oilers winger Ryan Jones scored his 13th of the year to cut the score to 3-1.

Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov, who is filling in for the injured Jean-Sebastien Giguere, has turned away 21 of Edmonton's 22 shots.
