Northern Colorado Bears took on the Montana State Bobcats on Saturday in Big Sky conference play and came away with the win.
The Northern Colorado Bears and Montana State Bobcats have both struggled in big sky conference play this season, but one team will get back on track on Saturday afternoon. Northern Colorado has lost three straight games, including a 75-68 loss to the Montana Grizzlies on Thursday, while Montana State has dropped four straight contests and is now under .500 on the season.
The Bears lost the first head-to-head matchup this season at Max Worthington Arena by a score of 84-72, as the Bobcats hit 44.8 percent of their threes (13 of 29), highlighted by four triples from Michael Dison. He had a game-high 17 points in the January win, while Tre Johnson scored 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds. As for the Bears, they shot 52 percent from the field and got 14 points and eight rebounds from Mike Proctor in the loss.
The Bears only have one player averaging over 10 points per game (Tate Unruh at 10.4), but their offense still ranks 28th in the nation in field goal percentage at 47.7 percent. Montana State also likes to spread the socring load on offense, as leading scorers Xavier Blount and Christian Moon only average 11.8 and 11.1 points, respectively. .

Montana State Vs. Northern Colorado Final Score: Bears Pick Up 77-64 Win In Overtime
The Northern Colorado Bears hosted Big Sky rivals the Montana St. Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in conference play. Both teams had been struggling as of late, although the Bobcats entered the game in a far better position in Big Sky, holding a .500 winning percentage within the conference. The Bears entered the having lost three straight games and six of their last seven.
The Bears fell behind early and it looked like they were well on their way to another defeat when they entered halftime trailing by a score of 34-25. They roared back to life in the second half to tie it up at 55-55 and send the game to overtime. The Bobcats crumpled in overtime, scoring just two points in the first three minutes of OT while the Bears went on a tear, with Tate Unruh knocking down eight points, including two treys. When all was said and done, Northern Colorado had outscored the visitors 22-9 in overtime to pick up the win by a final score of 77-64.
Unruh led all scorers with 20 points, also picking up seven rebounds and two assists.
With the win, Northern Colorado improves to 5-8 within the Big Sky conference, with an overall record of 8-16. The Bears will play their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 15, as they hit the road to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles.
