Only eight teams remain in the hunt for the FCS football championship, and Montana State is one of them after defeating Stony Brook, 16-10, on Saturday.

It wasn't easy, but the Montana State Bobcats held off the Stony Brook Seawolves, 16-10, on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2012 FCS Tournament. The Bobcats will face Sam Houston State on Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. The Bearkats beat Cal Poly Saturday to advance.

The winner of the Montana State-Sam Houston State game will face either Wofford or No. 1 overall North Dakota State in the semifinals. North Dakota State clobbered South Dakota State, 28-3, while Wofford moved past New Hampshire, 23-7.

On the other side of the bracket, Georgia Southern defeated Central Arkansas to set up a quarterfinal matchup with Old Dominion, who blew out Coastal Carolina. The winner of that game will face the winner of Illinois State and Eastern Washington for a spot in the semifinals. Illinois State advanced by topping Appalachian State, and Eastern Washington beat Wagner.

Montana State and Sam Houston State will be the only teams that will play on Dec. 7. The other three quarterfinal contests will be held on Dec. 8.
