Chargers vs. Broncos: Plenty of AFC West implications in Week 11 game

US PRESSWIRE

Peyton Manning has completed more than 70 percent of his passes in six consecutive games.

The Broncos will have the chance to take complete control of the AFC West in Week 11 when the San Diego Chargers travel to Denver for a re-match of Week 6's Monday Night Football game. In that game, the Chargers took a 24-0 lead to halftime, but struggled mightily in the second half and allowed 35 unanswered points en route to a 35-24 loss.

If the Chargers can manage to pull the upset in Week 11 -- most sports books have the Broncos as 7.5-point favorites -- they would manage to close the gap for the AFC West lead to just one game. However, if the Broncos manage to sweep the Chargers it'll give Denver a three-game lead with six to play and the tiebreaker over San Diego.

To beat the Broncos, the Chargers will have to slow Peyton Manning, who is on a remarkable stretch of six consecutive games in which he has completed more than 70 percent of his passes. With only one touchdown against the Panthers, Manning's streak of three-touchdown games ended at five. Fortunes have not been the same for the Chargers, as they've lost four of their last five, despite strong play from Philip Rivers of late. In the last two weeks, Rivers has completed 82.5 percent of his passes.

Sunday's game is scheduled to kickoff at Sports Authority Field at 2:25 p.m. MT.
