The BCS national title game would be between Kansas State and Oregon if the season ended on Sunday night. Can the teams stay their until the final BCS rankings come out in early December?
The newest No. 1 team in the BCS rankings is the Kansas St. Wildcats, led by Loveland, Colo., native and quarterback Collin Klein. Previously No. 2, Kansas State defeated TCU, 23-10, on Saturday after previous No. 1 Alabama fell to Texas A&M, 29-24.
The Oregon Ducks and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, both 10-0 like Kansas State, followed in the next two spots. Alabama dropped to No. 4 and was joined by Georgia at No. 5. Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and South Carolina -- all from the SEC -- made it six straight SEC teams in the top 10. The ACC's Florida State came in at No. 10.
Oregon's computer average is now No. 4 to Kansas State's No. 2. The gap continues to narrow and as long as the Ducks and the Wildcats stay undefeated, Oregon should rise above Kansas State in the rankings. Notre Dame is No. 1 in four of six computer rankings (No. 2 in the others) and No. 3 in the Coaches and Harris polls.
