Andy Wilder kicked an 18-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game to give Northern Arizona a 12-10 win over Northern Colorado Saturday at Nottingham Field in Greenley, Colo.
The field goal finished off a 15-play, 76-yard drive and allowed the Lumberjacks (7-1, 5-0 Big Sky) to remain unbeaten in conference play. Northern Arizona holds a half-game lead over Cal Poly and Eastern Washington in the Big Sky standings. The Lumberjacks have won seven straight games since a 63-3 defeat at the hands of Arizona State in Week 1.
Seth Lobato completed 20-of-36 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown for the Bears (2-6, 1-4). His scoring pass to Dominic Gunn gave Northern Colorado a 10-9 lead with 4:52 left in the game, but he also threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown with 4:07 remaining in the second quarter. Jace Davis had 105 receiving yards on seven catches for the Bears.
Northern Arizona was led by its defense all game. In addition to the pick-six, the Lumberjacks tackled punter Mason Puckett in the end zone for a safety late in the first quarter. Cary Grossart completed 21-of-32 passes for 225 yards and an interception. Zach Bauman gained 92 yards on 26 carries.
