The Colorado Rapids scored goals early and late on their way to a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo.
The Dynamo already had a playoff berth clinched prior to kickoff, while the Rapids planned on using a youthful lineup due to the many injuries they had sustained.
Colorado took an early advantage on a goal off the foot of forward Kamani Hill. At the nine minute mark Hill took a pass from Jaime Castrillon and sent it into the bottom left corner of the net.
The Rapids’ advantage remained 1-0 until the 76th minute, when forward Andre Akpan sent a header into the back of the net.
This marks the final game of the regular season for the Rapids (11-4-19), who will not advance to the MLS playoffs. The Dynamo (14-11-9), meanwhile, are set to take on the Chicago Fire in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday or Thursday.
