Fantasy Football Week 8: Peyton Manning a must-start against the Saints

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Facing the league's worst defense, Peyton Manning should deliver for his fantasy owners against the Saints.

With a slew of solid performances under his belt this season, this Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints should be Petyon Manning's signature day as quarterback of the Denver Broncos. The Saints give up the most yards of any team to opposing offenses and more than 30 points per game. Just last week, struggling fantasy play Josh Freeman scorched the Saints D for 420 yards and 3 touchdowns, good for 35 fantasy points.

Numberfire.com has Manning ranked second overall, just behind Aaron Rodgers, and has Peyton projected for 20.72 fantasy points in Yahoo standard scoring. This is just a tick below what Manning is averaging this season, with more than 300 yards and two touchdowns per game. This number appears to be a base for Manning's performance on Sunday, with the Saints secondary struggles.

SB Nation Fantasy has the Broncos quarterback ranked third, behind Rodgers and Manning's opponent this week, Drew Brees. But considering the odds of one team owning a combination of these three quarterbacks, Manning remains a must-start this week.
