Former Northern Colorado Bears defensive lineman Aaron Smith has had his last three seasons cut short due to injury, the most recent due to a neck injury. He played in just four games for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2011 season and was eventually placed on injured reserve late in October. However, he feels as tough he could play this Sunday against the Denver Broncos had he not been placed on the season-ending list.
Smith said he s completely healthy following spinal-fusion surgery in November and that he could play tomorrow.

Smith is a free agent this offseason and he may decide to retire if the Steelers don't want him back, which is a possibility.
In 13 seasons, Smith has accumulated 44 sacks in 160 games. The Steelers have been the only team he has played for in his career, making loyalty a priority of his.
