Denver Vs. Arkansas State Final Score: Pioneers Win 53-50 On The Road

The Denver Pioneers won 53-50 over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Thursday night, giving the team a victory as it begins a stretch that's loaded with road games. The Pioneers actually trailed 24-22 going into halftime, and needed some key made free throws down the stretch to stay ahead.

In a low-scoring first half, Denver trailed for most of the time, but it rode some good three-point shooting in the second half to an eventual lead. The Pioneers finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field, but they were nearly as good from three-point range (8-for-19, 42 percent) as they were from close in. With the Red Wolves having the advantages in rebounding and free throw shooting, making shots from long range was huge for the Pioneers.

Denver was led in scoring by forward Chase Hallam, who scored 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting. Forward Chris Udofia had another solid game, too, scoring 14 points and blocking three shots. Arkansas State got 16 points from guard Marcus Hooten, but he was the only player double-digit scorer on the team.
