Brock Berglund, Ex-Valor Christian QB, Free To Transfer From Kansas Jayhawks Football

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Valor Christian (CO) quarterback Brock Berglund has been granted a release from the Kansas Jayhawks and will be able to transfer elsewhere to continue his football career.

Former Valor Christian (CO) High School quarterback Brock Berglund saw his troubled time with the Kansas Jayhawks come to an end on Friday afternoon when new head coach Charlie Weis finally granted a release. Berglund had originally committed to the Colorado Buffaloes in 2010, but after Dan Hawkins was fired and new head coach Jon Embree decided not to keep offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau, Berglund had a change of mind and committed to Turner Gill's Kansas Jayhawks.

However, a since-dropped charge of third-degree assault and the firing of Gill had led Berglund to seek play elsewhere. Weis, though, was not willing at first to let Berglund transfer. After some time, Weis relented and let Berglund leave on Friday.

Berglund was unlikely to see any playing time there going forward, as Weis had brought in BYU transfer Jake Heaps and Notre Dame transfer Dayne Crist.

Berglund is looking to transfer to a Pac-12 school or into the WAC, according to reports. However, it is unlikely he'd think about Colorado given the past history as well as Connor Wood looking to be the starter going forward. But he could certainly wind up visiting the state if he chooses a Pac-12 team.
