X Games Go Global, Announce 9 Finalists For Future Events

While the future of the Winter X Games at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, CO, is still up in the air, ESPN has announced nine cities as finalist for three future X Games events that start in 2015. Those cities are Santiago (Chile), Munich (Germany), Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Foz do Iguacu (Brazil), Whistler (British Columbia), Barcelona (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal) and Quintana Roo (Mexico).

The current X Games set up is in Aspen for the Winter X Games, Los Angeles for the X Games and Tignes, Francise, for the European Winter Games. The winners will be announced in April and join these three host cities (though Aspen could be out by that time).

Whistler hosted many skiing events during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Mumich hosted the Summer Olympics in 1972 while Rio will host the Summer Olympics in 2016.
