NCAA Baseball Rankings: LSU Moves To No. 12 After Sweeping Arkansas

The latest Baseball America Top 25 poll is out and Kevin Gausman's LSU Tigers climbed back up the rankings to No. 12 following its three-game sweep of the then No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks (who fell to No. 13). Gausman, a Colorado native, allowed five runs over 6.2 innings, but he struck out a career-high 12 batters in Friday's 10-6 victory. Former Colorado Rockies draftee Ryan Eades led the Tigers to victory on Saturday with one run allowed in 7.1 innings while striking out 10.

The Florida Gators remain the No. 1 team in the nation even after a 2-2 weekend, but the Stanford Cardinal went 1-4 last week, dropping from No. 2 to No. 6. The No. 2 Florida St. Seminoles, like Florida, stand at 24-4 entering April. Unsigned 2011 16th round Colorado Rockies draft pick Preston Tucker committed a throwing error in the ninth inning of Sunday's game, allowing the winning run to score.

Texas A&M stayed at No. 7 in the poll, but Rockies' unsigned ninth round draft pick Ross Stripling took his first loss on Saturday. He dropped the middle game of the series, 4-3, after allowing four runs over 7.2 innings.

The latest Baseball America Top 25 poll results are out and Kevin Gausman's LSU Tigers have moved up two more spots to No. 11. Gausman, a Denver native, struck out 11 in 8.2 innings for a no-decision against the Mississippi St. Bulldogs on Friday night. College Baseball Rankings 2012: LSU Remains At No. 13 In Latest Baseball America Top 25 Poll

The latest Baseball America Top 25 Poll has seen several substantial changes this week, but not at the very top of it. The Florida Gators, home to former 2011 Colorado Rockies draft pick Preston Tucker, remain the No. 1 team in the nation with a 15-1 record, going 5-0 last week. The Stanford Cardinal is still the No. 2 team after dropping only one game to the now No. 8 Rice Owls over the weekend. Defending College World Series champion South Carolina and Arkansas complete the unchanged top four.

The Texas A&M Aggies fell from No. 6 to No. 10 after losing two games to the Cal State Fullerton Titans over the weekend. Ross Stripling, Rockies' ninth rounder in 2011 and senior returnee, allowed five runs (four earned) in a no-decision. He struck out seven, surrendered six hits, hit two batters and committed a balk.

The LSU Tigers are stuck at No. 13 following a 3-1 week, the only loss coming against Notre Dame. Denver native Kevin Gausman, though, threw a gem of eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11. He is 4-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 31 strikeouts to two walks.

Right behind the Tigers are the No. 14 Miami Hurricanes, home to the Rockies' 2011 third-round selection Peter O'Brien. He was 2-for-10 with a two RBI and a double over the weekend.

College Baseball Rankings: LSU Moves Up To No. 13 After 5-0 Week

The LSU Tigers moved up one spot to No. 13 in the latest Baseball America Top 25 poll. The Tigers didn't let their series loss to the Appalachian St. Mountaineers drag them down during this past week when they played five games. The Tigers wound up winning all five contests, though that was expected against Grambling State, McNeese State and a three-game series against the Dartmouth Big Green. Kevin Gausman struck out six and allowed four runs in 6.1 innings against Dartmouth.

The Florida Gators remain the No. 1 team in the country after sweeping the Miami Hurricanes in a three-game weekend series. Miami dropped three spots to No. 15. Florida's Preston Tucker and Miami's Peter O'Brien didn't have great series, but O'Brien did hit his fourth home run of the season. Both elected to return to college after the Colorado Rockies rafted them in 2011.

Ross Stripling, another 2011 Rockies draftee, threw eight shutout innings and struck out five for the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies over the weekend.

The LSU Tigers dropped out of the top 10 from No. 7 to No. 14 in the latest Baseball America Top 25 poll.
