Colorado Rockies pitcher Juan Nicasio suffered a broken neck as a result of the line drive hit by the Washington Nationals' Ian Desmond in Friday's game. He has undergone surgery to fix the C-1 vertebrae. He will remain hospitalized as he recovers from this.

Rockies head trainer Keith Dugger is expected to talk with the media at 3:30 p.m. MT to update Nicasio's situation.

Nicasio's season is likely over after this horrible accident, and his future is also cloudy. Nicasio started the season with Double-A Tulsa and kept dominating opposing hitters.
