Denver Broncos defensive tackle Ty Warren underwent surgery on Monday morning, according to Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post. Warren had the operation to fix a partially torn triceps tendon that he injured in practice last week. The Broncos are optimistic that he will be able to return in 3-4 months, either in later November or in December.

Warren signed a two-year, $8 million contract after the New England Patriots released. He was expected to be a starter at defensive tackle, but now he and Marcus Thomas are out (Thomas just for the preseason with a strained pectoral muscle).

While Warren could return this season, the Broncos could ultimately decide to place him on the injured reserve list at some point later this year. Warren has had a history of injuries and played in just one regular season game and one postseason game in 2010. A hip injury ended his 2010 season.
