Marlins Vs. Rockies: Jhoulys Chacin Pitches In Rematch Against Anibal Sanchez

On Monday, it took a Jason Giambi home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Colorado Rockies their third walk-off win of the season, but a 7-4 win is still a win. Fans at Tuesday's game will see a pitching matchup between two young starters, Anibal Sanchez and Jhoulys Chacin.

The last time the Rockies saw Anibal Sanchez (6-6, 4.00 ERA) was on April 22. It was one of those early season games where the Rockies would be confounded and on the wrong end of a potential no-hitter. Dexter Fowler broke up the no-hitter in the top of the ninth with a single to right field, but Jonathan Herrera hit into a fly out and Fowler was doubled off at first base.

Amazingly, the Rockies scored in the 4-1 loss that game. In the first inning, Fowler had started things with a walk and then moved to second on a passed ball. Herrera's ground out moved Fowler over to third base, which allowed him to score on a missed catch by Gaby Sanchez.

In his last start, Anibal Sanchez got beaten up by the Braves, allowing five runs in almost two full innings of work. But in his start before that, he held the Cardinals to three runs in seven-plus innings.

Jhoulys Chacin (9-9, 3.39 ERA) happened to be the losing pitcher in that April 22 contest in Miami. He allowed all four runs in that contest. This time around, Chacin is coming off a gem against the Cincinnati Reds. He threw an eight-inning complete game loss in the 2-1 decision. He struck out eight in the contest, but two RBI singles in the first inning were enough to do him in.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MT.
