Drew Pomeranz Finally Joins Colorado Rockies

Stay connected for news and updates

Over two weeks after Ubaldo Jimenez was traded to the Cleveland Indians, the final piece of the trade has made it into the Colorado Rockies organization. As he announced on Twitter earlier, Drew Pomeranz is heading to AA Tulsa to join the Drillers. He should be pitching in their next game on Wednesday, August 17.

Lefty pitching prospect Pomeranz was signed by Cleveland at the 2010 deadline, and by MLB rules cannot be named in a trade for at least a year. With the 2011 deadline passing late last night, Pomeranz is no longer just the Player To Be Named Later in the Jimenez trade, but the true centerpiece of the deal.

He has moved quickly through the minors, starting three games for the Indian's AA affiliate, and performing well. With some success in Tulsa, look for him to be a September callup with the Rockies this season.
