NHL Trade Deadline: Avalanche Not Done Yet?

This year's NHL trade deadline has been the most active in recent memory, with over a dozen major trades occurring last week. With a full week before the February 28 deadline at 1:00 p.m. MST and plenty of teams dreaming of playoffs, expect plenty of players to put on a new sweater in a new city.

The Colorado Avalanche have been one of the most active teams on the market, sending goalie Craig Anderson to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goalie Brian Elliott. GM Greg Sherman then pulled the trigger on the biggest blockbuster, sending young forward Chris Stewart and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman (and 2006 first overall draft selection) Erik Johnson and forward Jay McClement. It's incredibly rare for teams to exchange such young talent to fill needs, making the trade a fascinating concept to follow and sending shockwaves throughout the hockey world.

But Colorado likely isn't done on the trade market. In this morning's blog, the Denver Post's Adrian Dater speculated that multiple players are currently being shopped. Any Avalanche player not named "Matt Duchene" is a potential trade target at this point.

I have no real confidence in this one, but I’ve heard this one going around the water cooler. Ready?
Stastny, TJ Galiardi and maybe a pick/another player to Los Angeles for Jack Johnson, Jonathan Bernier and Jarret Stoll.

With the way this Colorado Avalanche season has progressed, did you expect something normal?

Expect a rollercoaster ride of a week in the hockey world, and SB Denver will be sure to keep you updated on all the major action in the NHL.
