After the No. 1 Sam Houston State Bearkats scored a touchdown against Montana, the Grizzlies had put together a fairly decent drive. However, it all dissolved into a missed field goal and then a long run by Tim Flanders to put the Bearkats into a 14-0 lead.
Grizzlies quarterback Jordan Johnson had several good runs on the drive and then completed an eight-yard pass to convert a 3rd-and-5 situation. A holding penalty on Sam Houston State gave the Grizzlies 10 more yards and the ball on the SHSU 30-yard line. The team couldn't do more than that and had to attempt a 49-yard field goal into the win. Brody McKnight came up short on the play.
On the very next play, Bearkats running back and second-team AP All-American Tim Flanders broke a few tackles and found the end zone at the end of a 69-yard touchdown run.
