Montana Vs. Sam Houston State Score: Bearkats Take 7-0 Lead On Brian Bell Run

Stay connected for news and updates

The Montana Grizzlies are down 7-0 early in Friday's 2011 FCS Playoffs semifinals matchup with the No. 1 Sam Houston State Bearkats. The Grizzlies received the ball to start the game, but they wound up punting the ball. It was a wobbly 31-yard punt that allowed Sam Houston to start at its own 43-yard line. SHSU returner Brandon Closner is a dangerous return man and the Grizzlies will want to avoid him in this game.

Bearkats quarterback Brian Bell had two big plays on the drive, throwing a 27-yard pass to Torrance Williams and running 11 yards for the touchdown. Montana's top defender, linebacker Caleb McSurdy got caught up with tight end and was unable to stay with Bell. Bell, recall, had a 54-yard run against the Montana State Bobcats last week.

Montana will need to strike back quickly to stay in this game.
