Denver looked to continue its strong start at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Utah tonight, and so far, so good. The Pioneers lead the Utah State Aggies 34-29 after the first half. The Pioneers are aiming to improve to 5-1 after a suffering their first loss of the season to No. 18 Cal on Saturday.
Rob Lewis carried the scoring load for Denver in the first half, just as he has all season. Lewis scored nine on 4-of-4 shooting, which included a three-pointer. Chase Hallam scored six for Denver, while Chris Udofia (three rebounds three assists) and Brian Stafford each chipped in five points. In all, eight players scored for Denver in the first half.
Utah State was led by Brockeith Pane and Morgan Grim, who each scored eight. Center Jordan Stone added six points and three rebounds off the bench.
Denver's biggest advantage has come from three-point shooting thus far. The Pioneers have knocked down five treys, compared to just one (in one attempt) for the Aggies.
