The Mountain West's action began with a mismatch between Air Force and Notre Dame and then ended with a contest between TCU and San Diego State. Here's how it all went down:
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-2) def. Air Force Falcons (3-2, 0-1 MWC), 59-33: Sure, the final point differential in the game was 26, but the game was never really that close. Most of those points came in the fourth quarter when the Irish were using their backups. Notre Dame slashed through the Falcons defense all day long.
Nevada Wolf Pack (2-3, 1-0 WAC) def. UNLV Rebels (1-4), 37-0: Nevada had 699 total yards of offense. UNLV had just 110. Nevada joins the MWC in 2012.
Utah State Aggies (2-3) def. Wyoming Cowboys (3-2), 63-19: The normally potent Wyoming rushing game gained just 82 yards on the ground while Utah State had 290. The good times from being 3-0 are now in the rear view mirror.
TCU Horned Frogs (4-2, 2-0 MWC) def. San Diego St. Aztecs (3-2, 0-1 MWC), 27-14: TCU avoided another slow start by getting out to a 17-0 lead at the half and lead 20-0 during the third quarter. Ed Wesley led the way for TCU by rushing for 146 yards while quarterback Casey Pachall threw two touchdown passes. The TCU defense had a great day and limited San Diego State running back Ronnie Hillman to only 55 yards on the day which is half of what is per game average is.

At least the Fresno St. Bulldogs can say they weren't shut out by the Boise St. Broncos, but that's about the only thing that went right in the 57-7 loss. And even those seven points were lucky. Devon Wylie returned a punt for 79 yards in the fourth quarter to avoid the goose egg.
Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore played half and a little more of the game. He went 21-of-29 for 243 yards and three touchdown passes in the first half and threw just two more passes (both completed) to reach 254 yards in the game. He then gave way to Joe Southwick and Grant Hedrick (who rushed for a 23-yard touchdown toward the end of the game). Moore picked up his 43rd career win and is now just two behind Colt McCoy's NCAA career wins record.
Boise State relied on the ground game for the second half. Doug Martin picked up 94 yards in 16 carries. He had found the end zone in the third quarter. D.J. Harper had just six carries, but he scored two rushing touchdowns.
Freshman wide receiver Matt Miller caught five passes for 78 yards and one of Moore's touchdowns. Sophomore Geraldo Boldewijn saw the field for the first time this season, caught three passes for 33 yards and hauled in two for touchdowns.
The 5-0 Broncos head to Fort Collins, CO, next Saturday for a game against the Colorado St. Rams. It will be their first Mountain West contest.

The Boise St. Broncos defense has stood stout in the first half, keeping the Fresno St. Bulldogs off the board at halftime. The Broncos are winning, 37-0, and have held the Bulldogs to just 191 yards of total offense.
Kellen Moore has helped put up 18 points for the Broncos with his three touchdown passes. Moore threw his first one during the first quarter before firing off two in the second. He hit Geraldo Boldewijn for an 18-yard touchdown pass on the team's first drive of the second quarter and then found him a second time with just 20 seconds left in the quarter.
Boldewijn had been held out of the first four games, but he's already adapted after all that time off the field. He has three receptions for 33 yards. Moore is 21-of-29 for 243 yards and three touchdowns. The other touchdowns came on a 25-yard end-around by Mitch Burroughs in the first quarter and a six-yard run by D.J. Harper in the second.
Fresno State appeared to have its offense ready to put the ball into the end zone, but quarterback Derek Carr fumbled the ball at Boise's 16-yard line and turned the ball over. That eventually led to Moore's third touchdown pass.

Kellen Moore has the Boise St. Broncos in a 16-0 lead over the Fresno St. Bulldogs after the first quarter of play. The Broncos defense forced a quick three-and-out for the Bulldogs' offense, allowing Kellen Moore his first chance to put points on the board.
Wide receiver Geraldo Boldewijn caught an 11-yard pass on the second play of the drive, but it was Moore's 48-yard pass Matt Miller that propelled the Broncos to a touchdown. Moore found Miller for a four-yard touchdown a couple of plays later.
After the two teams exchanged a couple of punts, Moore started another scoring drive, but Miller was shaken up after a 17-yard reception that put the team within 16 yards of the end zone. The Broncos were denied and kicked Dan Goodale kicked a shaky 32-yard field goal. He hit the left upright and saw the ball travel to the right.
Fresno State then had a costly fumble on a run, which Boise State recovered. Mitch Burroughs ran an end-around for a 25-yard touchdown run. Goodale, thought, missed the extra point.
