The latest NCAA Basketball Rankings are out, and the AP Top 25 has a unanimous No. 1 choice: the Ohio St. Buckeyes. The Buckeyes narrowly defeated the Northwestern Wildcats, 58-57, over the weekend, while the Duke Blue Devils dropped a game to the St. John's Red Storm.
After the Buckeyes, the Kansas Jayhawks, the Texas Longhorns, the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Duke Blue Devils round out the top five.
The San Diego St. Aztecs and the BYU Cougars placed No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. The two teams faced each other on Wednesday, with Jimmer Fredette scoring 43 points in the Cougars' 71-58 victory. The Aztecs were no longer among the undefeated teams in the nation, leaving Ohio St. with that distinction. The Aztecs made that loss look like a bump on the road following their 96-57 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday. The Cougars, though, lost to the New Mexico Lobos, 86-77, on Saturday.
The Colorado St. Rams improved to 15-6 on the season following wins over the Air Force Falcons and the Utah Utes last week. They received two votes in this week's poll. They will host the No. 7 Aztecs in Fort Collins on Feb. 2.
