Rockies Take Big Lead, Blow Big Lead, Win 8-7

After Chicago starting pitcher Carlos Silva left in the first inning with breathing issues, it seemed that Colorado would have an easy road ahead of them for the sweep. They scored runs in the first, second, and fifth innings on the way to an 8-2 lead as De La Rosa cruised.

But trouble struck in the 8th inning as the Cubs rode a Alfonso Soriano homerun off Manuel Corpas to make the game interesting. A Marlon Byrd triple in the ninth inning brought the Cubs to within two, but Dexter Fowler made a leaping catch on a Soriano fly ball, robbing him of a game-tying homerun. Fowler injured himself in the process and was carted off the field. Street struck out Jeff Baker to end the game.

Colorado has now won four games in a row at home and have an off day on Monday, before welcoming the Wild Card leading San Francisco Giants to town for a two game series.
