Denver Stiffs On Recent Signings

Our own Andrew Feinstein weighs in on the recent signings over at Denver Stiffs:

In summary, the Nuggets generated much-needed enthusiasm today by signing Harrington while shoring up a few more roster spots with the Williams addition and Carter coming back. If they can somehow pull off a deal for a center like Emeka Okafor, as I’ve been advocating for and am confident can get done, the Nuggets may not get LeBron’d (and yes, I’ll be using that new verb relentlessly for now on) by Melo and instead, compete for a championship in Denver.

Nuggets Also Add Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter

According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the Nuggets have also agreed to terms with forward Shelden Williams and guard Anthony Carter:

The Nuggets made two more moves on Wednesday to solidify their bench. A league source told ESPN.com’s John Hollinger that the team has agreed to terms with forward Shelden Williams and guard Anthony Carter and is expected to sign both later in the day. Both deals would be for the league’s veteran minimum salary.

Williams is on his fifth team, and Carter has been with the Nuggets for the previous four seasons.

Nuggets Sign Harrington To Five-Year, $34 Million Deal

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Denver Nuggets have agreed to terms with free agent power forward Al Harrington. The deal is reportedly worth 5 years and $34 million for the 30 year old center.

Harrington chose Denver over the Dallas Mavericks in a market that has been controlled by the Miami Heat the past week. Because of the severe competition, Denver likely overpaid for a big man they desperately needed with Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen potentially out for the beginning of the season.

Harrington was very efficient in New York last year after previously playing for Golden State and Atlanta. Though undersized for a center, Harrington is a decent rebounder and energy guy who has a very talented scoring touch and should be a good fit in the uptempo style that Denver likes to run.

Are The Nuggets Interested In Center Al Harrington?

The Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman reports that the Nuggets have interest in former Knicks center Al Harrington:

Harrington is interested in numerous teams, the source said, including Dallas, but Denver could be a good fit for Harrington, 30, who averaged 17.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in Mike D'Antoni's fast-paced system in New York last season.

Having lost out on Udonis Haslem, the Nuggets continue their search for a big man up front to help out Melo.
